Baltimore Remain in Contention Behind Derrick Henry's Quadruple-TD Performance, Houston Clinch Postseason Spot

Derrick Henry rushed for a year-best 216 rushing yards and equaled a career high with four rushing scores as the Baltimore Ravens staved off elimination by toppling the Green Bay Packers 41-24 on Saturday night.

The powerful back had three scores in the opening two quarters and then found the end zone once more on a 25-yard dash with under two minutes remaining in the game. His seventh 200-yard rushing performance surpassed Adrian Peterson and OJ Simpson for the most in league history.

His 36 carries marked a personal record.

The Ravens (8-8) now must hope the division-leading Steelers fall at the Browns on Sunday. A Steelers victory in Cleveland would end Baltimore’s playoff hopes. If the Browns win that game, the Ravens the division title by beating the Steelers on the road next week.

Green Bay (9-6-1) lost their third straight, enabling the Bears to clinch the NFC North title. The Packers had already clinched a playoff berth earlier in the week.

Both teams were without their first-string QBs as Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson deals with a back issue while the Packers' signal-caller is in the concussion protocol. The two backup quarterbacks – Tyler Huntley and Malik Willis – were both productive in a game that featured only one punt.

The Packers' fill-in went 18-for-21 for a personal-best 288 yards and one touchdown, and he also ran for 60 yards and two touchdowns before exiting after aggravating a shoulder injury. Huntley was 16-for-20 for 107 yards with one touchdown.

The difference in the game was the Packers' failure to contain Derrick Henry, who helped the Ravens outgain on the ground the Green Bay by a wide margin.

The star running back was not utilized in the Ravens' last two possessions the week before in a narrow defeat. The veteran running back’s lack of fourth-quarter usage was a major point of discussion around Baltimore all week.

The Ravens made sure he got the ball early and often. His powerful running enabled the Ravens to put points on the board on their first five possessions and take a 27-14 halftime lead.

He accumulated 15 carries in Baltimore’s first two series and finished each of them with touchdown runs. He added another short TD run just before the second quarter ended.

Green Bay got back into the game by outplaying the Ravens 10-0 in the third period.

After a field goal, the defense elicited the initial punt of the night. The QB then ran for an 11-yard score to make it 27-24.

But the Ravens responded on their next series.

The workhorse back ran for a key gain on a third down play. He closed the third quarter with a long run. Those key runs paved the way for a scoring strike from the quarterback to Zay Flowers.

Willis led the Packers into Baltimore territory before hurting his throwing shoulder and departing for the locker room. His backup threw an pick on his only pass.

Houston Texans Lock Up Postseason Berth With Win Over Los Angeles

CJ Stroud connected on a pair of deep scores on the team's first two drives, and the Texans went on to beat the Los Angeles Chargers by four points on Saturday afternoon to secure a third straight postseason appearance.

The Houston Texans, now 11-5 extended their winning streak to eight games, their best run in several seasons.

The Chargers (11-5) had their four-game winning streak snapped and ceded the division crown to their rivals.

Stroud’s two explosive TDs stunned the defense and gave the Texans a two-score advantage. On his initial throw of the game, he hit a wideout for a long touchdown. He later tossed a deep scoring pass on the following possession.

Stroud connected on his first six attempts of the game. He finished with 244 yards.

The Texans' defensive unit recorded third-down sacks on the opponent's first two possessions. The Chargers were forced to three-and-out on multiple early drives.

The LA signal-caller, competing with a broken hand, was brought down on five occasions.

An early pick of Stroud in the second quarter only resulted in a three points for the offense. Another takeaway failed to produce any scores.

The Chargers were denied on the goal line by a key defensive play. The intended receiver saw the ball bounce away, leading to the change of possession.

The Chargers' kicker failed to convert a kick from close distance just before the break and later pushed wide an PAT attempt on the team’s final drive after a score.

The Texans' kicker converted kicks from 41 and 44 yards to contribute to the win.
